What is meant by Lailatul Qadr?
Laylat al-Qadr, also known as Shab-e-Qadr,
Night of Decree, Night of Measures, is an Islamic observance that marks the
anniversary of the night Mohammad received the first verses of the Koran
(Qu'ran). Many Muslims devote their time to reading the Koran during this
period.

Shia Muslims similarly believe that Laylat al-Qadr is to be
found in the last ten odd nights of Ramadan but mostly on the

have originated in Manichaeism where the death of Mani is celebrated on the
27th day of the fasting month. This day is also known as the Night of Power or
the Night of Destiny. There is a
difference of opinion about the date for Laylat al-Qadr but, in general, it is
agreed that it is most likely to be in the last 10 nights of Ramadan, with the
odd nights being more likely. Of the odd nights, the night of the 27th (which
is the night before the 27th of Ramadan, as the Islamic day starts with
nightfall) is most likely, according to many Muslim scholars.
What should we do on the night of Laylatul Qadr?
1. Take a break for Allah.
2. Do Itikaf.
3. Make this special Dua.
4. Recite the Quran.
5. Get your sins to be cleansed.
6. Come up with a personal Dua.
7. Have Iftar with the family.
Why is the Night of Power so important?
Lailat al Qadr, the Night of Power, marks the night in which
the Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by Allah. Muslims regard
this as the most important event in history and the Qur'an says that this the night is better than a thousand months (97:3) and that on this night the
angels descend to earth.
Lailat al Qadr is a good time to ask for forgiveness.
“Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of
sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not to show off) then all
his past sins will be forgiven”.
